Our favourite bands: A symphony of sounds
Welcome to our sonic sanctuary, where we share our passion for the bands that resonate with us. Join us as we explore the vibrant world of music, celebrating the artists who move us and the melodies that heal us. This is more than just a list; it's an invitation to discover new sounds and support the incredible talent that thrives in the Derby music scene.
And sometimes when we're experiencing live music we find the Holy Grail- a feeling that shivers right through our bodies, a vibrational sound that sends the experience to another plane!

Why these bands?
For us, music is more than just sound; it's a lifeline. We've curated this list of favourite bands based on their unique ability to connect with us on a deeper level.
From the infectious indie vibes of Flex Index, a trio who hail from Derby to the intricate prog rock sounds of Zopp, and the Sheffield charm of Matilda Shakes and the young Taylor Liam Jackson, these artists offer a diverse range of sounds that cater to peoples eclectic tastes. They represent the heart and soul of the music we love, bringing energy, passion, and a whole lot of fun to every performance.
Our favourites include: Flex Index, Derby (indie), Zopp (prog rock), Belt( from Derby), Matilda Shakes (Sheffield) and Taylor Liam Jackson (indie/rock), Eddie and the Wolves ( Derby), Adam Slack and the Bangers, Spread Eagle ( New York), Kez ( Derby), We are Sovereign ( Derby), Fools and Sages... (more bands will be added later).
Some of the events that we go to are put on by the Indie Night, the Derby Indie Collective, Alpha Procreative and more...
The venues we have been to in Derby include The Hairy Dog, The Victoria Inn, Dubrek Studios, Mr. Shaws House, The Electric Daisy.

Who are we reaching?
We want to share our love for these bands with everyone, especially those who might not frequent live music venues as often as they used to- but would like to.
We tend to go to cheaper gigs in small venues.
So, whether you're a student looking for affordable entertainment, someone in their 40s,50s or 60s + rediscovering the joy of live music, or a neurodivergent individual seeking sensory experiences, we believe there's something here for you. Anyone who feels 'other' might benefit from going to gigs. We also hope to reach those with mental health conditions, as we've personally experienced the positive impact of live music on our well-being.

Music, neurodiversity, and mental health
We firmly believe in the therapeutic power of music. It's not just about entertainment; it's about the positive effect music has on our minds and bodies. For us, music provides a physical sensation that can be incredibly grounding and uplifting, which has been especially valuable as Julie has combined type ADHD & depression and Jade is waiting for an NHS neurodivergence assessment & has a severe mental health condition & OCD. We want to share how experiencing live music can contribute to managing challenges.
Music can offer a refuge, a release, and a connection to something bigger than ourselves.

Get out there and experience the music!
Our ultimate goal is to inspire you to experience the magic of live music firsthand. We encourage you to go and see these amazing bands, support your local Derby venues, and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of live performances. There are plenty of cheap gigs and small venues waiting to be discovered, offering incredible music experiences without breaking the bank. Join us in celebrating the artists who make our lives richer and more colourful!
